What is FCoV, Feline Coronavirus? Can humans get it?

Feline Coronavirus, or FCoV, is common to 60% of cats. It is not transmissible to humans. Some cats rid themselves of the virus over time whereas some could live with it their entire lifetime. It does not necessarily cause any health issues as long as you maintain a healthy diet and stress-free environment. Most of the cats purchased from breeders and pet stores are commonly found to be positive for FCov. At Nine Lives, we test for FCoV and separate cats that have it from those that do not.
